Review by Simon @ Hi-Reciprocity

“Now, I personally have a problem with covers-bands. I know you can’t always afford to see the original bands but musicians who cannot (or do not) get involved in the creative process are basically just CD players (and usually CD players with badly recorded CDs in them). How the Memepunks get away with it though, is that they are masters of the mash-up. It gives their show a party-feel as if you keep being assaulted by pleasant surprises as the song you thought you knew is wittily invaded by two or three other songs… and they played the theme to Game of Thrones on kazoo… so although there’s still that bit in your head that grumbles about it ‘just being covers’, you find that your mouth and legs have mutinied and you’re smiling and laughing and dancing.”

Thanks, Simon! It was a blast playing with you and the Prof – what a crowd!
